NANA'S LIVING ROOM INC'S origin program gives participants a creative outlet and motivation to stay away from violence. In this six week workshop, MAP participants learn how to work on expressing ideas and thoughts through the artof storytelling. Participants will become proficient in operating their camera equipment, including understanding settings such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and how to use different shooting modes . NLR understands the importance of art and believes art can be used as a tool to reduce violence in communities.

NLR also implements the restorative justice practice and the usage of restorative circles. Using this method from national leader of restorative justice, Kay Pranis the participants have an outlet to talk through their anger and learn life skills versus being in a constant state of survival  mode.
